Following the Fellowship

“‘Follow me!’ said Merry […] He turned to the left along the Hedge, and soon they came to a point where it bent inwards, running along the lip of a hollow. A cutting had been made, at some distance from the Hedge, and went sloping gently down into the ground. It had walls of brick at the sides, which rose steadily, until suddenly they arched over and formed a tunnel that dived deep under the Hedge and came out in the hollow on the other side.” — Chapter 6: The Old Forest, The Fellowship of the Ring

The dreaded entrance to the Old Forest. I personally hate the zone, but I guess you’re not supposed to easily find your way around it ;)

I’ve barely played LOTRO for the past 2 months or so, uni has been keeping me busy. So I don’t have any screenshots to fit in with the next book passage, but I have found the passage I want to match some screenies to, so hopefully I’ll take and upload them soon =) Until then, here’s some screenshots I took of Orthanc whilst doing an epic quest.

A few faces you might recognise from Lothlorien ;)

Is it just me, or does Legolas look vaguely like Orlando Bloom? Obviously none of the characters are purposely meant to look like the actors who portray them in the films, but I can see it in his eyes somehow…

“At last they came to a narrow gate in a thick hedge. Nothing could be seen of the house in the dark: it stood back from the lane in the middle of a wide circle of lawn surrounded by a belt of low trees inside the outer hedge. … It was an old-fashioned countrified house, as much like a hobbit house as possible: it was long and low, with no upper storey; and it had a roof of turf, round windows and a large round door.” — Chapter 5: A Conspiracy Unmasked, The Fellowship of the Ring

I finally made some updates! For those that don’t know, this is Frodo’s house in Crickhollow. Fatty (Fredegar) Bolger looks after it for him whilst Frodo is on his way from Bag End to Crickhollow. After Frodo and the other hobbits leave Crickhollow to carry on with their quest, the house is attacked by Nazgul which is why the door is broken in the picture above. There is also a little quest to protect Fatty Bolger from some Crabain (crows) =)

A couple recently held a RP wedding on my server (Withywindle). Here’s some screenshots of the service, everyone on the way to the after party at their kinhouse, and at the after party. Lots of drunken brawls & emote spamming ensued…

As I’ve not posted anything in ages, and I’m meant to be working on my dissertation right now, I’ll post a few screenshots of pretty scenery and I promise I’ll get back to the proper content soon!

This is my house in LOTRO, located at 3 Harrow Road, Turtledown, Shire Homesteads.

“Merry led the pony over a gangway on to the ferry, and the others followed. Merry then pushed slowly off with a long pole. The Brandywine flowed slow and broad before them. On the other side the bank was steep, and up it a winding path climbed from the further landing. Lamps were twinkling there. Behind loomed up the Buck Hill; and out of it, through stray shrouds of mist, shone many round windows, yellow and red. They were the windows of Brandy Hall, the ancient home of the Brandybucks.” — Chapter 5: A Conspiracy Unmasked, The Fellowship of the Ring
